At the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Center, get introduced to the diverse cultures of the the country's many ethnic groups.

After lunch with your guide, who further details your day with anecdotes and facts, climb to the top of Mount Phousi in the afternoon. When you reach the summit, you can watch the sun set over the Mekong River, illuminating the gilded stupa of the mountain's Wat Chom Si temple. On your way back down, stop at Luang Prabang's night market before heading to your hotel to discover the troves of vibrant, handcrafted treasures that are on display.

Get away from the city for a day of hiking at Tat Sae Waterfalls and a traditional Lao picnic lunch with a cold Lao beer. For a change in scenery, ride high atop an elephant, trek through lush forest greenery, and swim in cold pools before a quick motorboat ride upstream.

Once you meet your guide at your hotel, make your way to Ban Suandara to start your trek on foot. Hike for 2 hours while you take in views of the flora and fauna as well as the beautiful mountain backdrop. Then cross a bamboo bridge and hear the sound of crashing water as you approach the Tat Sae Waterfalls.
Climb atop an elephant for a completely different view before you take a dip in the clear waters if the water level permits. As you settle in for a mouthwatering, traditional picnic lunch, sip a cold beer to compliment the lab mou (minced pork with spices and chilies). Try fried mixed vegetables with your sticky rice as well as aor larm (stewed meat with spices).
